LIVE: Pope Francis begins his American journey

Today Pope Francis meets America on the first full-day of his historic trip to the United States. He will privately meet with President Obama in the morning, will pray with U.S. bishops at St. Matthew’s Cathedral and, in a much anticipated Mass, will canonize Junipero Serra as the 11th American saint. 
The down-to-earth pontiff will have his first encounters with thousands who have journeyed from all over the country to witness the first leg of his three-city trip that includes New York and Philadelphia.
