Opinion: How does Donald Trump have a star on the Walk of Fame?

Share

To the editor: While I do not at all condone vandalism, I understand the rage of James Otis, who admitted to vandalizing the Hollywood Walk of Fame star for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. (“Police arrest man who says he destroyed Trump’s star on Walk of Fame,” Oct. 27)

Having said that, the bigger question for me is how did Trump get a star on the Walk of Fame in the first place? Was it is brilliant “acting” in “The Apprentice”? Or maybe, just maybe, was it his bloated ego and checkbook that made it possible?

Those stars don’t shine nearly as bright when all the “honoree” has to accomplish is writing a check for the honor.

To the editor: We were shocked at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s decision to restore Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The words and deeds of Trump have disqualified him from having his star remain on that storied boulevard. As long as Mr. Trump’s name is enshrined on Hollywood’s most cherished strip, it is the Walk of Shame.

The Chamber should do us the favor of permanently removing Trump’s star from being among those of the other luminaries who deserve to be there.
