SOUTH COAST LEAGUE
Dual Championships at Trabuco Hills

Heavyweight Adrian Martinez pinned Dustin Parker of Lake Forest El Toro at 1:29 and Matt Hartshorne pinned El Toro’s Ronnie Ruiz in 4:04 in the 125-pound weight division to lead San Clemente to 236.5 points and a league championship in the South Coast League dual finals at Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills on Saturday. The South Coast league is different from other leagues in that the champion is decided by both the regular season and placement in the league tournament. The Tritons (5-0) won the regular season, but had to beat Dana Hills (4-1) at the league meet in order to be outright league champions. Defending league champion Dana Hills (4-1) took second at the tournament and in the league with 185.5 points. El Toro was third with 137.5.

The top three finishers in each division will advance to the Central Divisional Individual finals at Corona Centennial on Friday and Saturday. San Clemente advanced participants in every weight division-a first for any school in South Coast league history.

Martinez, a junior, finished 3-0 with three pins, all in the first period, for San Clemente. Kyle Bank defeated San Clemente’s Brian Tharp 9-1 in the 119-pound division and Nathan Maddox defeated Joe Foss of San Clemente, 9-8 at 145-pounds to lead Dana Hills. El Toro was led by Nick Elder (152) who defeated Nick Baker of San Clemente, 10-5.

BAY LEAGUE

Peninsula 41, Santa Monica 36
Chase Macer scored a 6-1 decision at 140 pounds to clinch the victory for host Peninsula (6-2, 3-1). Mike McConnell recorded a pin in 1:38 and improved to 32-8 at 161 pounds for the Panthers. Santa Monica is 2-2 in league.

CENTURY LEAGUE

Villa Park 45, Anaheim Canyon 30
Joey Sanchez had a pin in 28 seconds at 130 pounds and Jon Moynihan won, 5-0, at 152 pounds for host Canyon.

ORANGE LEAGUE

Anaheim 39, Anaheim Western 33
With the meet tied going into the last match, Robert Elias recorded a pin in the heavyweight division to give visting Anaheim the victory. Jairo Alonzo (171), Frank Vergara (152), Danny Santamaria (160), Angel Rodriguez (145), and Rafael Valencia (140) all had pins for the Colonists (13-6, 4-1). Western is 1-4 in league.

SUNSET LEAGUE

Marina 41, Huntington Beach 23

Christopher Barr was behind 9-4, but scored a reversal and pinned Alex Sigala with 22 seconds left in the match for Marina.

Lance Mejia (112 pounds) pinned Kevin Kuhia in 1:42 and Steve Hill (152 pounds) pinned Steven Marble in 3:39 for Sonora (15-3, 4-1).

MISSION VALLEY LEAGUE

Rosemead 69, San Gabriel Gabrielino 9
Rosemead won the Mission Valley League title with a convincing dual meet victory over San Gabriel Gabrielino at Rosemead. The Panthers (9-0, 5-0) got pins from sophomores Jonathon Flores (103 pounds) and Brian Godinez (112) and seniors Henry Chan (140), Luis Holguin (125) and Phoung Thong (145) to earn their fourth consecutive outright league title. Arroyo finished second in league with a 4-1 record and Gabrielino took third at 3-2.

The Mission Valley League individual qualifying tournament will take place Saturday at Gabrielino at 10 a.m., with the finals scheduled to begin at approximately 3 p.m. Each school in the league will field participants and the top three finishers in each weight division will advance to the Southern Section Divisional tournament on Feb. 21.

Emmanuel Chen won by fall over Ben Bannon in 5:03 in the 112-pound division for host San Marino. Alex Chung, Raymond Tam and Tony Chou also won by fall for San Marino.

Temple City 53, Monrovia 21
Brian Liu (112 pounds) pinned Kevin Ham in 1:44, Alex Hoang (125 pounds) pinned Armando Canzalez in 4:41, Doug Pack (145 pounds) pinned Nick Richards in 2:58 and Brandon Sorensen (189 pounds) pinned Daniel Serrano in 0:52 for league champion Temple City (7-1, 5-0).

VALLE VISTA LEAGUE

Northview 66, Pomona 12
Northview’s Steven DeLaFuentes started the match with a pin against Aaron Alcocer in the 112-pound division.
