An all-bullpen day nets Dodgers 6-5 loss

Their bullpen seemingly settled with the addition of Jamey Wright, Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly decided to go all in with his relief staff Tuesday against the Padres.

Nine innings begot nine different relievers, which as it turned out, was at least one too many.

Of course, by the time they had gotten around to the ninth, the Dodgers were deep into their minor league relief corps.

The Dodgers carried a 5-4 lead into the ninth and asked right-hander Francisco Felix to close it. Felix, who last year pitched at triple-A Albuquerque (5.99 ERA), gave up a single, hit a batter and then a game-winning two-run double to Brad Davis for a 6-5 loss. That’s Brad Davis the minor league catcher, not the former Mavericks point guard.

L.A. relievers who threw a scoreless inning: Scott Elbert, Javy Guerra, Scott Rice, Josh Lindblom and minor leaguer Logan Bawcom. Giving up one run was Wright and minor leaguer Angel Sanchez.

Ronald Belisario, who has been running hot and cold (OK, more cold), gave up two runs in the sixth on a hit, two walks, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.

Wright, Guerra, Elbert and Belisario also all pitched Monday.

The Dodgers’ offense was led by the middle of the order. Matt Kemp and Juan Rivera each drove in a pair of runs, Rivera hitting his team-high fourth home run. And Andre Ethier went two for four, including his third triple of the spring. Guess his knee is OK.
