Zack Greinke hit the 200-strikeout mark in a 2-1 win against the San Diego Padres on Saturday night, but admitted afterward that he had no idea he had achieved the milestone.

“This year I didn’t even pay attention to strikeouts at all really,” Greinke said. “In years past, it’d be a big deal.”

Greinke gave up four hits and one earned run in eight innings to pick up his 19th win of the season. He finished with the lowest ERA and WHIP among all starting pitchers.

“I probably made pitches better than the year before,” Greinke said. “I feel like the last three years have been pretty consistent. But this year is probably a little better.”

Now, with the Dodgers clinching home-field advantage against the Mets for the NLDS, Greinke will likely take the mound in Los Angeles rather than New York -- though he said he’s comfortable in either environment.

“Pitching at home, you’re just a little more comfortable,” Greinke said. “But I feel good pitching in New York also. It’s a pretty nice park to be in.”

Postseason speculation aside, Greinke -- along with teammate Clayton Kershaw and Chicago Cub Jake Arrieta -- will be in the running for the Cy Young Award. But if he’s to be believed, his one concern has nothing to do with strikeouts or awards.

“Just was trying to get outs,” Greinke said of his stellar season. “That’s all I was really paying attention to, I guess.”
