Although he attended her birthday party in 2007, it took a fateful taxi ride two months later for Nicholas Pegler, 30, and Emily Anglin, 31, to connect.

“We coincidentally shared a cab together to meet some other friends out,” Anglin, said. “We never [met up with] the others, but [instead] had this absurdly fun night together. That’s when we both knew we were going to have significant roles in each other’s lives.”

At the time, both were living in Adelaide, Australia, where Anglin, a San Diego native, had moved to attend graduate school. After meeting Pegler, she stayed another four years until before the duo married on Oct 29, 2011 in Carlsbad, Calif. and relocated to Southern California.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch Park, the one time home of the 1950s cowboy movie star. It was an intimate affair, with just 40 of their closest friends and family attending, including 11 from Australia.

“The venue had an old-California rancho feel, with gorgeous old buildings and barns, a reflection pool, and a surplus of peacocks which happily mingled (quite comfortably) around the guests.” Anglin said. “That was a really cool part of the day.”
