Life’s a drag for Frank Marino, celebrating 30 years on the Strip in Las Vegas

Dubbed the Queen of the Strip, drag queen Frank Marino outlasted five presidents during a 29-year reign over Las Vegas. Now the city’s longest-running headliner celebrates 30 years of performances on Saturday, Sept. 19, with his show “Divas Las Vegas” at The Linq Hotel & Casino.

“I can’t believe it’s been 30 years -- it doesn’t show, does it? For 30 years, it has felt like I’ve lived on a permanent vacation,” Marino said in a news statement.

Marino performs as comic icon Joan Rivers, hosting the drag queen tribute show with his biting quips. Between impersonations of Lady Gaga, Cher, Diana Ross, Beyoncé, Madonna and Britney Spears, Marino does as many as 17 costume changes, all Bob Mackie gowns designed for him.

“Divas Las Vegas” performs in the recently renovated Linq Theater with its seating at different heights and styles, including barstools, bucket-style chairs and club couch booths. New Edison LED bulb lighting and pipe handrails as well as a runway that extends into the audience give the theater a New York City loft feel.

The show even has its own themed gaming pit at The Linq with six custom blackjack tables that feature Marino and the cast. In his handbag of accomplishments, you’ll find two stars on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame, a key to the city and a street named after him.

Marino appeared in “Miss Congeniality 2,” “Baywatch,” “Millionaire Matchmaker” and “Nip/Tuck,” and has released a bestselling book, “His Majesty, the Queen.” Marino’s career in Las Vegas started when he appeared in “An Evening at La Cage.”

In honor of his 30th anniversary, Marino created a commemorative Frank Marino doll, named the “Frankie” doll, which has hundreds of different costumes, just like the diva himself.

Tickets start at $74.99.
