Louis Big Shoes is my favorite store on Via Cavour, with sizes suitable for Shirley Stoler (of Lina Wertmüller’s Seven Beauties”). The clerk, who was standing outside in big cowboy boots when I shot this, told me photography wasn’t allowed. “Come mai?” I asked, which is the Italian way of asking why, with deep, existential overtones.
