OVERRATED: 'The X Factor'

Maybe the most hummable train wreck on TV, this heir to the "American Idol" franchise feels like the original but louder, flashier and overall more unpleasant. The whole show is packaged with the lead-fisted subtlety of a pro wrestling broadcast, and the traditional infighting at the judges table has been amplified to meaner heights with Simon Cowell. And that's not even mentioning the music, which seems more shallow and cynically driven than ever.
