Claim to fame: Though he started as a theater actor, one of Shalhoub's first television roles became a regular part of the hit NBC sitcom "Wings." He appeared on that series from 1991 to 1997. But to most people, he's the neurotic detective Adrian Monk. That series ran on USA for eight seasons and brought Shalhoub three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. Did you know: Shalhoub had a memorable role as a frightened but English-deficient taxicab driver in Bill Murray's 1990 comedy, "Quick Change." Other credits: Shalhoub had a successful Broadway career before his Hollywood adventure. Since the end of "Monk," he's returned to the stage to star in the Broadway revival of "Lend Me a Tenor."
