Photos: Controversial alley shooting revealed

Matthew Itkowitz, an off-duty deputy U.S. marshal, told police he was being beaten and threatened with a gun when he drew his own weapon and fatally shot his alleged attacker, Ryan Gonzalez, 26. Prosecutors concluded that Itkowitz’s account was “patently inconsistent” with video surveillance footage of the incident, but determined “there is insufficient evidence to prove that Itkowitz did not act in self-defense.”
