Among the stalking targets of a disgruntled former LAPD cop who went on a murderous rampage last year was Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck's father, a department spokesman said Thursday.

Christopher Dorner led authorities on a massive, 10-day manhunt after killing three people to avenge his dismissal from the department. He took refuge in a cabin near Big Bear and ended the ordeal with a shot to his head.

The ensuing investigation uncovered evidence, according to a report first posted by KNBC-TV Channel 4, that the chief's father, retired LAPD Deputy Chief George Beck, was among the targets of Dorner's rage.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith confirmed the KNBC report and said that investigators had found evidence that Dorner knew where George Beck lived.

"He knew he had a dog that he would have to take care of" in order to get to Beck, Smith said.
