A 29-year-old man was killed Friday in a skydiving accident at a small Riverside County airport, authorities said.
Shortly after 11 a.m., Perris police officers were called to the Perris Valley Airport, where a man had been critically injured while attempting to land at the end of his jump, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
First responders treated the man at the scene, then took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
The man's identity has been withheld by authorities until his relatives are notified.
The accident remains under investigation, police said. The airport, located southeast of Perris, has one runway and is often used for skydiving landings.
A 35-year-old San Diego man was killed last year when he crashed into the ground during a skydiving competition held near the airport. More than a dozen people are believed to have died in accidents in the area since 2000.
