Inverted perfection

Though she now lives in Orange County, Mandy Low makes it a point to visit the Palos Verdes coast when she can. The self-proclaimed “hobby photographer” has been shooting with her Sony a5100 for only five months and made this image last week while at Pelican Cove.

“You can’t see it, but there were a few other people down the coast that day taking photos: a lone man who just missed the sunset, a young teen with his cellphone, and a couple shooting pregnancy photos. What I love about these sunset photos is that they bring all sorts of people together, all celebrating happy times,” she said.

“I was hoping for an interesting sky that day. But the clouds weren’t that interesting, so I took out my ball. What I like about my ball is that it inverts the scene. I thought about flipping my picture ‘right’ side up so it will look ‘right.’ But even upside down, the picture is still beautiful.
