A man who apparently drew a gun at a gas station was fatally shot by a police officer at a St. Louis suburb gas station early Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

The victim, 18-year-old Antonio Martin, identified by his mother, Toni Martin, was apparently shot about 1 a.m. at a Mobil gas station in Berkeley, Mo., not far from Ferguson, where protests erupted after the police shooting of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown on Aug. 9, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports

Toni Martin and others at the gas station said Antonio was shot by a police officer while he was with his girlfriend.

Details of the shooting were not immediately available. A Times call to the St. Louis County Police Department was not immediately returned.

Medical examiners and investigators from the St. Louis County and Woodson Terrace departments were arriving at the scene where his body remained in the parking lot at 6800 North Hanley Road.

A crowd of about 60 to 100 protesters was gathering near the gas station, The Post-Dispatch reports.
