Virgin Mary and other holy sightings in unlikely spots

Some call it a miracle -- the image of Mary or Jesus in an unexpected place. Most recently, two trees in the New York area have drawn crowds, but there have been many accounts of holy sightings -- Jesus’ image in a WalMart receipt in South Carolina and atop a pizza in Australia. Here are images of more sightings -- in chocolate as well as the broad expanse of glass on the side of an office building.

Virgin Mary in chocolate

At a Fountain Valley, Calif., candy factory, workers discovered under a vat a 2-inch-tall column of chocolate that they believed bore a striking resemblance to the Virgin Mary.

Virgin Mary in glass

Some saw the image of the Virgin Mary in the windows of an office building in Clearwater, Fla., in 1996. Hundreds of thousands flocked to see the sight. Glass experts believed the image was created by a chemical reaction and corrosion of the metallic elements in the glass coating, but they could not explain why it took the shape it did.
