About ProPublica
ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit investigative newsroom in New York. It is led by Paul Steiger, former managing editor of the Wall Street Journal, and publishes its work at propublica.org and through partnerships with the Los Angeles Times and other media. ProPublica is funded primarily by the Sandler Foundation, established by Herbert and Marion Sandler. The couple, who headed Oakland-based Golden West Financial Corp. for 43 years, have no role in ProPublicas editorial operations.
