Three teenagers have been arrested in the death of a 13-year-old Westminster boy during a car-to-car shooting that also wounded his brother and another relative.

Minh Cong Tran died about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when the car in which he and several family members were riding was fired upon by people in two other cars near Bolsa Avenue and Ward Street.

Police later stopped one of the cars and arrested three juveniles -- whose names have not been released because of their ages -- on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

“We have more arrests coming,” said Lt. Derek Marsh, a spokesman for the Westminster Police Department.

“Anyone we can find who was in those two cars is going to jail.”

It was unknown whether the crime was gang-related, Marsh said. “We’re still investigating,” he said.

“We have some leads, and we are investigating those.”

The wounded boys, ages 14 and 15, were stable, Marsh said.
