Charity helps foreign troops take Afghanistan pets home
Nowzad was founded by a former British marine. It helps departing soldiers recover their forbidden pets from bases and fly them to their new homes.

The value of the support that dogs like Peg provide to the morale of soldiers on active duty is incalculable. Dogs have a long tradition of assisting our soldiers this way, since at least the Civil War and probably even earlier. Now, as then, dogs and their soldiers bond for life!
When the US Army left Vietnam, they gave 4,500 plus American service dogs lethal injections, rather than going through the expense of transport and repatriation home. It's nice to see dogs somewhere getting a better shake.
ian1205: Of course all countries have "plenty of dogs to adopt". These dogs have mainly "adopted" the troops at FOB's and other bases. They (the dogs) have warmed the heart of many of the troops needing exactly that. A moment in time where they can just "be". They have become "Battle Buddies". This is why Pen Farthing and others are working to get them to the warrior in which they have bonded.
These dogs in Afghanistan are NOT just for "U.S. Soldiers"... they have gone everywhere from South Africa (to a soldier and his wife who the dog "adopted" while the soldier was deployed) to Italy, to the U.K. and of course the U.S. but if you'd take a moment to read NOWZAD's work they are doing you wouldn't be so "political" in your response. This has ZERO to do with politics.
