The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq or who died at a military hospital of their injuries:

Phillip R. Anderson, 28, of Everett, Wash.; sergeant, Army. Anderson was among three soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Balad Ruz, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Collin J. Bowen, 38, of Millersville, Md.; staff sergeant, Army Reserve. Bowen died Friday at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio of injuries suffered Jan. 2 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in eastern Afghanistan’s Khowst province, near the Pakistani border. Two other soldiers were also killed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry Regiment in Towson, Md.

Juantrea T. Bradley, 28, of Greenville, N.C.; staff sergeant, Army. Bradley was among three soldiers killed Wednesday in a rocket attack on a military outpost near Nasiriya, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 7th Special Troops Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Eustis, Va.

Donald A. Burkett, 24, of Comanche, Texas; specialist, Army. Burkett was among three soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Balad Ruz, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Ernesto G. Cimarrusti, 25, of Douglas, Ariz.; staff sergeant, Army. Cimarrusti was among five soldiers killed Monday by a suicide bomber who walked up to the troops while they were on foot patrol in the upscale Mansour neighborhood of central Baghdad and detonated explosives strapped to his waist. Cimarrusti was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Gabriel Guzman, 25, of Concord, Calif.; sergeant, Army. Guzman died March 8 in Orgun, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when his Humvee struck a roadside bomb in Gholam Haydar Kala, near the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Dustin C. Jackson, 21, of Arlington, Texas; specialist, Army Reserve. Jackson was among three soldiers killed Wednesday in a rocket attack on a military outpost near Nasiriya, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 350th Adjutant General Company in Grand Prairie, Texas.

David D. Julian, 31, of Evanston, Wyo.; staff sergeant, Army. Julian was among five soldiers killed Monday by a suicide bomber who walked up to the troops while they were on foot patrol in the upscale Mansour neighborhood of central Baghdad and detonated explosives strapped to his waist. Julian was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Torre R. Mallard, 27, of Lawton, Okla.; captain, Army. Mallard was among three soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Balad Ruz, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Robert T. McDavid, 29, of Starkville, Miss.; corporal, Army. McDavid was among five soldiers killed Monday by a suicide bomber who walked up to the troops while they were on foot patrol in the upscale Mansour neighborhood of central Baghdad and detonated explosives strapped to his waist. McDavid was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Scott A. McIntosh, 26, of Houston; corporal, Army. McIntosh was among five soldiers killed Monday by a suicide bomber who walked up to the troops while they were on foot patrol in the upscale Mansour neighborhood of central Baghdad and detonated explosives strapped to his waist. McIntosh was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Jose A. Paniagua-Morales, 22, of Bell Gardens; corporal, Army. Paniagua-Morales died March 7 at the U.S. military hospital in Balad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Samarra, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Tenzin L. Samten, 33, of Prescott, Ariz.; private first class, Army. Samten was among three soldiers killed Wednesday in a rocket attack on a military outpost near Nasiriya, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 7th Special Troops Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Eustis, Va.

Shawn M. Suzch, 32, of Hilltown, Pa.; sergeant first class, Army. Suzch was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Laurent J. West, 32, of Raleigh, N.C.; staff sergeant, Army. West was killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle near Kishkishkia, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
