Michael, Kobe and Scott Crowd Out Real News

Share

Re “A Plague Is on the Land -- All Michael, All the Time,” Commentary, May 4:

Bravo to Crispin Sartwell for his piece on the endless coverage of the self-proclaimed “King of Pop.” Between Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant and Scott Peterson, it appears there is little time for coverage of serious issues. I was fortunate to attend a Frank Zappa concert that included a hilarious parody of Jackson; this was in 1983, and 20 years later, his PR machine is still going strong.

Perhaps his trial needs to take place on another planet. Let’s hope so.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now if only the “television news media” would pay attention. Whatever goes on with Jackson or Bryant doesn’t help me to pay my bills.

Luckily I have the option of turning it off.
