Vice presidential nominee John Edwards’ speech Wednesday night failed to stir up much interest among network TV viewers, with average ratings slipping 11% from Monday’s live prime-time coverage of the Democratic National Convention.

NBC led the pack Wednesday with 4.2 million viewers during the 7-8 p.m. hour (Pacific time), trailed by ABC (4.1 million) and CBS (3.9 million), according to Nielsen Media Research.

The three networks averaged 4.5 million viewers Monday; they did not air convention coverage during Tuesday’s prime time.
