The new format looks like a ransom note. Please give back our newspaper.

You say you are responding to the views of your readership in creating this hodgepodge look, but this is hurting my eyes and makes the paper look tacky. Sign me: devoted but disappointed.

What’s the story? I feel like I’m reading a “rag” now. As long as the content doesn’t deteriorate, I can live with it. And if the change helps sell newspapers, I’m happy for you. But for those of us who think that the L.A. Times is one of the finest newspapers in the world, it’s a little unsettling.

What I really want and expect from the Los Angeles Times is reporting I can count on to be as accurate and as timely as possible. I do not want or expect to be entertained by color photos, hyped headlines or any other distractions. Do you read me? I want to read you!

Kudos for publishing a Section A that once again resembles a first-class newspaper. I commend you all.

Your new layout is tacky. It looks like a tabloid.

Dear Los Angeles Times: Please have a talk with my delivery person. For some reason Sunday he delivered USA Today.

For more than 30 years our day has started with a 30-minute sharing of The Times. A coin toss for who gets the Editorial/Op-Ed section first -- the loser content with the news in the first section. With the two most desired sections of The Times all in one, what do we do now?

Regarding your new retro look: Wow, is it the 1930s already! Love your bold sans serif headline type. Looks like something the New York Daily Mirror would use on a double murder in the Bronx.

If Arthur Miller was even close to the truth when he said, “A good newspaper, I suppose, is a nation talking to itself,” heaven help us here in Los Angeles. The Times’ new format is a mess, a visual babble!

Hate it.
