Actress in 1950s TV series 'Sky King'
Gloria Winters-Vernon, 78, an actress who starred as Penny in the 1950s TV series "Sky King," died Aug. 14 at her home in Vista, Calif., from complications of pneumonia, her family announced.
As Gloria Winters, she had appeared in "The Life of Riley," Jackie Gleason's first TV series, in 1949 and '50.

A Los Angeles native, Winters married Dean Vernon, a sound engineer on "Sky King" and eventually gave up acting.
