A venue of Vegas proportions

A striking new landmark to rival the likes of L.A.’s Staples Center will soon rise behind the New York-New York and Monte Carlo resorts, adjacent to the city’s I-15 corridor. The Las Vegas Arena, which is scheduled to open in 2016, is a 20,000-seat sports and entertainment venue with designs to become one of the most iconic destinations in the city.

As an extension of the Strip’s excitement, this premier development by AEG and MGM Resorts International will present an array of premium club experiences and also host NBA and NHL games, concerts, boxing matches, mixed martial arts fights, family shows, award shows and other major events all year round.

The state-of-the-art indoor arena promises to be a quintessential Las Vegas experience inside and out. The venue’s recently unveiled renderings show influences by the city’s surroundings of the desert and the Spring Mountains to the west, and the pulsating Las Vegas Boulevard to the east. Reflecting the color, drama and energy that the city is known for, this new focal point of Las Vegas’ bustling entertainment scene will have a sleek exterior that is as bold as it is sophisticated.

The project’s promising first images highlight exterior views of the arena’s monumental glass entry facade and giant LED overlay. According to developers, it will also feature a dramatically high atrium, an exterior performance stage, an array of sweeping balconies, plus multiple suites drop-off zones with private lobbies for VIPs.

Developers plan to break ground in April.
