The man was taken to a hospital, where he died of his wounds. His name is not being released until his family has been notified, according to police spokeswoman Jennifer Marlatt.

The Police Department said a group of people was in the parking lot and a fight broke out between two men. The victim was stabbed during the fight and the other man ran away, police said.

Police did not release a description of him or further details of the case. Detectives are still interviewing witnesses, Marlatt said.

Lorie Hellinger, who has worked at the Central Park Library for 31 years, said the library will remain open during the investigation. She said the northeast parking lot will be closed until police reopen it.
