Some return, some leave. It’s baseball life and the disabled list, and the carousel continued Saturday for the Dodgers.

One day after getting A.J. Ellis and Hanley Ramirez back in the lineup, the Dodgers announced prior to Saturday’s game they were placing infielder Chone Figgins on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps.

They called up infielder Carlos Triunfel from triple-A Albuquerque for the second time this season. He was up for three games in April but did not play.

The Dodgers are running out of veteran infielders. They are still playing without starting third baseman Juan Uribe (strained hamstring). With Uribe out, Figgins had been splitting time at third with Justin Turner, but Turner is battling a sore calf and has only been available as a pinch-hitter the past two games.

Miguel Rojas is starting at third Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

The diminutive Figgins, making a comeback after not hooking on with a team last season, is hitting only .217 but has walked 14 times in 76 plate appearances for a .373 on-base percentage.

Triunfel, 24, is another good glove, light-hitting infielder the Dodgers seem to have in abundance. He was hitting .212 for Albuquerque, mostly playing shortstop.

Uribe took batting practice Saturday with Manager Don Mattingly watching carefully, but the Dodgers are not offering any timetable on his return. Hes been on the DL since May 21 when he injured the hamstring for a second time this season.
