Arnold May Get Reduced Role on FSN Show

Tom Arnold appears to be going, but not gone entirely, from Fox Sports Net’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period.”

Negotiations between the host and FSN continue, with the likely outcome being Arnold will disappear from the daily set but be a regular presence for the show at major sporting events.

Arnold has served as the show’s host recently, but his contract, which reportedly pays him $1.1 million a year, is due to expire next month.

Speaking to MSNBC’s Sharon Tay in an interview taped for Sunday’s “Entertainment Hot List,” Arnold appeared to signal his changing status when he said, “I’ve had a great four years. I’m going to miss the show and the guys. Four years in one job is a long time. Four years in a marriage is a long time. I’ve had a lot of fun.”

FSN spokesman Lou D’Ermillio said, “We are still in discussions. Nothing has been resolved.”

Calls to Arnold’s publicist were not returned, but another source said the new arrangement would allow Arnold to remain with the show and pursue other opportunities.
