Re-signing Andrew Bynum was a solid move and the Lakers’ fast start to the season has been nothing short of spectacular, but here’s something that might really excite their fans: Live telecasts from the East Coast! . . .

Channel 9 for years has shown games from the Eastern time zone and occasionally the Central time zone on a tape-delayed basis, angering fans that wanted to follow the action as it happened but drawing higher ratings by showing games at a later hour when larger audiences were available to watch. . . .

This season, every Lakers game will be telecast live. . . .

No thank you, Channel 2, for showing the San Diego Chargers’ victory over the last-place Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday instead of the matchup of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks won by Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts over Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. . . .

If Vince Young was in a funk before, imagine what he’s going through watching journeyman Kerry Collins lead the unbeaten Tennessee Titans. . . .

Time is running out on the Dodgers’ window of exclusivity in the Manny Ramirez sweepstakes, with other teams free to jump in starting Friday. . . .

Good news for UCLA fans: Darren Collison and the Bruins open the basketball season Wednesday night against Prairie View A&M; at Pauley Pavilion. . . .

Prairie View A&M;, alma mater of long-ago former Lakers backup Zelmo Beaty, probably is best known for losing a record 80 consecutive football games, a nine-year streak of ineptitude that ended 10 years ago this fall. . . .

Tim Floyd’s USC basketball team, a loser in overtime against No. 1 NBA draft pick Derrick Rose and Memphis last Dec. 4, travels to Norman, Okla., this year for a Dec. 4 game against Oklahoma and 6-foot-9 sophomore forward Blake Griffin, who has been projected as the No. 1 pick in next year’s draft. . . .

Speaking of the draft, Fox Sports West last week rated the top five picks in Clippers history as Danny Manning, Loy Vaught, Lamar Odom, Al Thornton and Eric Gordon. . . .

Gordon at the time had played all of three NBA games. . . .

In case you wondered: Quirky Ron Artest of the Houston Rockets wears No. 96, the 9 representing the q and the 6 the b, in honor of Queensbridge, the housing project in Queens where he grew up. . . .

Kevin Moen, best known for scoring the winning touchdown and upending a Stanford trombone player at the end of the famous multilateral kickoff return that gave California an unforgettable victory over Stanford in 1982, is wrapping up his first season as co-coach of the football team at Palos Verdes Peninsula High. . . .
