Watch Jamie McMurray trigger a 22-car wreck at Daytona during Coke Zero 400

More than half the field in NASCAR’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway was involved in a wreck near the halfway point of the race Saturday night.

It all began when Jamie McMurray’s car began to spin across the track after it bumped the car of Kyle Larson and was nudged from behind by the car of Jimmie Johnson, who eventually became tangled in the wreckage along with all three of his Hendrick Motorsports teammates, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne and Chase Elliott.

Among others caught in the wreck, which happened on Lap 90, were pole-sitter Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Danica Patrick and Martin Truex Jr.

Fortunately, there appeared to be no serious injuries.

"I really don't know what happened. I think somebody got into my left rear and I don't know if I cut a tire down," McMurray said. "After I felt that happen, I just didn't have any control. ... It's unfortunate. It's part of plate racing."

The car of driver Brian Scott went airborne and landed on top of Harvick’s car at one point during the crash.

“I watched the replay and it didn’t look as severe as it felt to me,” said Scott. “When I realized I was on top of a car and opened my eyes to me it was like I was looking straight down and felt like I was in the process of flipping onto the room. Then we were stopped in the grass and I knew the car was killed.”
