Johnson, Flanagan share lead
Richard S. Johnson was disappointed his score wasn’t lower, while Nick Flanagan was just happy to be playing well on the PGA Tour.
First-round leader Johnson shot a three-under-par 67 and Flanagan had a seven-under 63 Friday to share the second-round lead at 10-under 130 at the U.S. Bank Championship over the 6,579-yard Brown Deer Park Golf Course in Milwaukee.
Kent Jones and Gavin Coles were tied for third a shot back of the leaders. Jones shot 65 and Coles had the low round of the tournament at 62, one shy of the course record.
------
Christina Kim’s second-round 68 at the LPGA State Farm Classic in Springfield, Ill., looked ordinary compared to her opening 63, but it included a birdie putt on her last hole that gave her a one-stroke lead over the charging Michelle Wie and three others.
Kim, the first-day leader, is at 13-under 131. Right behind her is Wie, playing easily her best golf of the year while shooting a 65. Sherri Turner (66), Ji Young Oh (66) and Yani Tseng (66) finished the day tied with Wie at 12 under.
------
Dana Quigley shot a tournament-record 10-under 62 to take the lead after the first round of the Champions Tour’s 3M Championship at Blaine, Minn.
Gene Jones shot a season-best 64, and is two shots back. Jeff Sluman birdied four of his last five holes to join R.W. Eaks at seven-under 65.
