Get ready for Kobe Bryant at small forward.

When the doors opened Wednesday for the final part f the Lakers' scrimmage, Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams were in the Lakers' backcourt, not Bryant.

The move from shooting guard would be fine with Bryant, looking to preserve whatever he can in his 20th NBA season.

"I don't have to handle the ball really at all, which leaves more time to catch and shoot. Makes my job a lot easier," he said.

Bryant didn't touch the ball often in the part of the scrimmage open to the media, but he didn't need to.

"I don't think it matters. You just play the flow of the game and see what comes," he said, smiling.

Nick Young was active at the scrimmage, making threes, driving to the hoop and, of course, talking a lot of trash on the Lakers' second day of training camp in Honolulu.

"I'm still 'Swaggy P,' " he said, referencing his self-proclaimed nickname. "I don't like being 'Nicholas.' You know, I'm the man when it's all said and done. I'm just a cool guy. It's just in my DNA."

I'm tired just watching this drill. A little passing, some layups and lots of running. Kobe and Metta not taking part

So you're telling me there's a chance

Like me, don't like me, you respect the career that I've had, and I think that's a pretty damn cool thing, man.

The preservation of Kobe Bryant began Tuesday, 2,300 miles from Los Angeles and a world away from the giddiness of a while ago.

Is there such thing as an obstructed-view hotel room? Somewhere behind this tree is the ocean. I'm fairly certain.

A second career?
