The 76ers not only won for the first time in two months, they did it with ease.

The 76ers ended their NBA record-tying, 26-game losing streak, routing the Detroit Pistons, 123-98, on Saturday night to avoid establishing the longest skid in U.S. major pro sports history.

“It’s not something I want to be a part of,” 76ers guard Michael Carter-Williams said, “so it’s great that we got this win.”

Their 26 consecutive losses equaled the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and also the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976-77.

Carter-Williams and Thaddeus Young each scored 21 points for the 76ers, who won for the first time since beating Boston on Jan. 29 and did it impressively, leading by as many as 32 points. They also ended an 18-game home losing streak, which was one shy of another NBA record.

We were just happy to get a win,” Young said. “I don’t think it was for the streak or anything like that, we just wanted to go out there and win a basketball game and continue to just play.”

at San Antonio 96, New Orleans 80: The Spurs never trailed after their opening possession, extending their winning streak to 17 games and their lead over Oklahoma City to 31/2 games for the NBA’s best record.

at Washington 101, Atlanta 97: John Wall scored 25 points, Drew Gooden had 26, and the Wizards inched closer to their first playoff spot since 2008.

Miami 88, at Milwaukee 67: Chris Bosh scored 14 points, LeBron James had 13, and the Heat won without Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers.

at Dallas 103, Sacramento 100: Dirk Nowitzki scored 19 points, and the Mavericks moved into a tie for the last playoff spot in the West.
