Lakers’ Kobe Bryant fourth overall in All-Star balloting so far
With the latest returns announced on Thursday, Kobe Bryant is fourth in balloting for the NBA’s 2015 All-Star Game with 694,665 votes.
Now in his 19th season, Bryant is a 16-time All-Star, soon to be 17 if the voting trend continues.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is the current leader at 775,810, followed by Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) at 775,486 and Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans) with 732,154.
The balloting is divided by conference. The top-two guards and top-three front-court players are named starters. Reserves are chosen by a coaches’ vote.
Based on the current results, Bryant, Curry and Davis would be joined by Clippers forward Blake Griffin (403,415) and Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol (343,587) for the Western Conference.
In the East, James would play with Chicago Bulls forward Pau Gasol (372,109), New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony (365,449), Washington Wizards John Wall (439,395) and Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade (396,757).
Jeremy Lin received 114,286 votes, ninth among guards in the West.
Houston Rockets guard James Harden is third behind Bryant at 516,514, a full 178,151 away from displacing the Laker as a starter.
