The Lakers waived guard Darius Johnson-Odom on Wednesday.

Johnson-Odom was originally drafted by the team with the 55th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, but was cut during the 2012-13 season by the Lakers.

He rejoined the organization for training camp, and made three preseason appearances, averaging 3.7 points and 1.3 assists in 8.2 minutes a game.

The Lakers now have 16 players under contract, 11 with guaranteed deals. Of the five who aren’t guaranteed, both Shawne Williams and Elias Harris have $100,000 of their contracts locked in.

The most the Lakers can carry into the regular season is 15 players. Though the team appears likely to bring more than the minimum of 13, there’s no guarantee it will go with 15.

The three remaining Lakers on the bubble are Xavier Henry, Ryan Kelly and Marcus Landry. All three are fully nonguaranteed.

Guard-forward Henry has averaged 13.6 points a game while shooting 55.6% from three-point range.

Rookie power forward Kelly made his first appearance in Beijing after sitting out the summer following foot surgery in April. Through 12 minutes, Kelly scored six points, hitting two of three shots from long range.

Forward Landry has struggled with his shot, hitting 25.9% from the field and 22.7% from three-point range.

The Lakers play next in Shanghai against the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
