Stephen Curry helps Warriors beat Grizzlies and tie a franchise record

Stephen Curry scored 28 points, Andre Iguodala had 20 and the Golden State Warriors matched a franchise record for most victories to start a season with a 100-84 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

Harrison Barnes scored 19 points for Golden State (9-0). Curry was nine of 21 from the field, but only three of 10 from three-point range.

The Warriors were 11 of 27 (41%) from three-point range.

Marc Gasol had 26 points, Zach Randolph had 19 and Tony Allen finished with 15 for the Grizzlies, who lost their fourth game in a row.

Memphis, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, was able to fight its way back by reverting to its offensive strength, going inside. Randolph scored 12 points in the third quarter and Memphis cut the deficit to 55-53.

But Curry made a 40-foot shot as the horn sounded at the end of the third quarter to put the Warriors ahead, 74-63.

Memphis stayed within single digits in the early stages of the fourth quarter, but consecutive three-pointers by Klay Thompson and Draymond Green put Golden State ahead, 86-71, with 6 minutes 29 seconds left.

at Charlotte 95, New York 93: Cody Zeller made a layup off an inbounds play with 0.6 seconds left to lift the Hornets.

Kristaps Porzingis made what appeared to be a winning three-point basket on the ensuing inbounds play, but officials ruled that the shot didn’t get off in time. Nicolas Batum led the Hornets with a season-high 24 points. Carmelo Anthony had 29 points for the Knicks.

at Atlanta 106, New Orleans 98: Al Horford scored 26 points and the Hawks rallied past the Pelicans, who played without Anthony Davis. The center sat out because of a right hip contusion suffered Tuesday against Dallas. Horford made 11 of 15 shots and Paul Millsap finished with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Eric Gordon led New Orleans with 26 points.

Indiana 102, at Boston 91: Paul George had 26 points and 10 rebounds to help the Pacers win for the fifth time in six games. Evan Turner led the Celtics with 20 points. The Celtics made only four of 24 three-point shots.

Brooklyn 106, at Houston 98: Backup Bojan Bogdanovic scored a season-high 22 points and the Nets won for the first time this season after an 0-7 start. Brooklyn scored six consecutive points to turn a tie score into a 99-93 lead with 3 1/2minutes remaining. It was the Nets’ first victory in Houston since March 13, 2006, a stretch of eight games. James Harden had 23 points for the Rockets, who had won four games in a row.

Toronto 119, at Philadelphia 103: Kyle Lowry scored 23 points, Luis Scola had 21 and the Raptors handed the 76ers their 18th consecutive loss dating to last season. Philadelphia, which started last season 0-17, is 0-8.

San Antonio 113, at Portland 101: LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points in his return to Portland. He played nine seasons with the Trail Blazers before leaving as a free agent last summer.

at Sacramento 101, Detroit 92: DeMarcus Cousins had 33 points and nine rebounds and the Kings ended a losing streak at six games.

at Denver 103, Milwaukee 102: Kenneth Faried rebounded Danilo Gallinari’s errant shot in the lane for a putback with five seconds remaining to lift the Nuggets.
