Bryant player dribbles out the clock and celebrates before realizing his team lost [Video]
Bryant University freshman Ikenna Ndugba dribbled out the final seconds of the Bulldogs’ game against rival Brown on Monday night, then tossed the ball in the air and looked for a high five from teammate Adam Grant.
He didn’t get one. Turns out there was no reason for the Bryant players to celebrate.
Bryant actually lost the game in Providence, R.I., 91-90. Brown’s Tavon Blackmon made a layup with 3.8 seconds to give his team the one-point lead. Ndugba took the inbound pass with seemingly enough time for one more shot, but he appeared to be unaware of the situation.
Just before the bizarre ending, Bryant’s Nisre Zouzoua hit a three-pointer for a 90-89 Bulldogs lead with 12 seconds remaining. The sophomore guard finished with a career-high 31 points and Grant had 20.
Ndugba finished with seven points.
Steven Speith led Brown with 16 points and added nine assists, while JR Hobbie scored 15 points.
