Corey Perry could join Ryan Getzlaf on Ducks’ bench tonight

The Ducks’ powerful first line might be two players down tonight in Tampa Bay.

Center Ryan Getzlaf was declared out for a third game this morning after prematurely ending his return to practice ice Wednesday in Tampa. Getzlaf suffered an upper body injury on Nov. 8.

This morning, Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau said wing Corey Perry will be a game-time decision as he suffers through flu symptoms, a team spokesman said.

Without Getzlaf, who has 10 goals and 12 assists, the Ducks eked out a 3-1 victory over Vancouver on Sunday night at Honda Center with just 11 combined shots in the first and third periods.

They then lost the opener of their current four-game road trip versus lowly Florida on Tuesday, 3-2, despite a goal from Perry.

Perry (11 goals, 10 assists) would be a considerable hit even if the Lightning are without their star, Steven Stamkos, who broke his leg in a Monday game.

“It’s iffy,” Boudreau told NHL.com of Perry. “Hopefully, he’ll be able to play. I’ve seen the flu bug take down 10 people in a row to where you can barely field a team.

“At least with us it’s been like, two guys one day, and then one guy another day and then another guy another day, so we’ve gotten by but we’re hoping it doesn’t spread any further.”

Goalie Jonas Hiller missed Sunday’s game with flu symptoms, but he’s expected to start tonight. Goalies Frederik Andersen and Viktor Fasth, who has been out since Oct. 17 after suffering a lower-body injury, were on the ice this morning in Tampa.

Asked how he’d deal with a first line without Perry and Getzlaf, Boudreau cracked he’ll “drop back and punt? I don’t know. We’ve never had to go through that, so we’ll see what we see.”
