Haven’t the Sharks suffered enough?

Apparently not.

The Kings will open their Stanley Cup title defense — including the highly anticipated championship banner-raising ceremony — on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Staples Center. Their opponent in that game will be none other the San Jose Sharks.

Yes, the Sharks.

The Sharks blew a 3-0 playoff series lead against the Kings in the first round, and, of course, the rest is history. The Kings are only the fourth NHL team ever to rally from a 3-0 series deficit to advance. And now the Sharks seem destined for a most tumultuous off-season.

One Kings fan (@rcoop21) cleverly noted on Twitter: “The NHL is straight out trolling San Jose right there.”

Anaheim’s home opener will be Oct. 17 against the Minnesota Wild at Honda Center. The Ducks will start their season on the road on Oct. 9 at Pittsburgh.

The rest of the NHL’s schedule for the upcoming season — all 1,230 games of it — will be released Sunday afternoon.
