Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, Mark Hunt battle to bloody draw in UFC bout

When heavyweights Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Mark Hunt battled to a majority draw during a UFC bout in Australia on Saturday night, one thing was certain, the fans got their money’s worth and possibly witnessed one of the greated mixed martial arts bouts in history.

As you can hear in the video highlights above, analysts didn’t think the two hard-hitting fighters would last five rounds, but they did. Five bloody, brawling rounds of action that left the UFC Fight Night crowd at Brisbane Entertainment Center torn as to who won the fight.

Only one judge saw a winner in Hunt (9-8-1), giving him the bout, 48-47. The other two judges scored it 47-47.

“I do my best always,” said Silva (18-5-1) in a post-fight interview. “I don’t believe this fight [would] go five rounds, you know, because Mark Hunt tries for the knockout. After he knocked me down, I was a little bit tired, but I didn’t give up, and I do my best.”

Fighting on the undercard was former champion Maurice “Shogun” Rua, who was also shocked that Hunt and Silva went the distance and admitted it was one of the greatest fights he’d seen.

“It’s very rare for a heavyweight fight to go all the way to the end,” Rua said. “Guys are heavy hitters and all that.

“It was an amazing fight. I think they both deserve all the respect from everybody, and certainly, this fight will go down in history as one of the best ever.”
