The final frontier A rocket blew up on Sunday, barely two minutes into a flight that was supposed to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. No lives were lost, but some hopes were dashed and some plans postponed. The Falcon 9 rocket, developed by the private firm SpaceX as part of its contract with NASA, disintegrated almost as soon as it left Cape Canaveral in Florida. The rocket was carrying two tons of supplies and about the same amount of hopes and expectations. Folks here in Hampton Roads are keenly tuned into anything having to do with space exploration, thanks to the presence of NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton.
