Pistons' Drummond will help decide timing of extension

Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores called center Andre Drummond a "max player" toward the end of last season. Drummond is committed to the rebuilding project. With him eligible for a max contract extension this summer, you would think it would be a simple matter of getting a pen and a contract. A case can be made that the organization would be better off pulling out that contract at the end of next offseason. The decision will be up to Drummond. No matter what, he is on the books for $3.2 million next season his fourth in the NBA.
