Rising profits and corporate moves nudged the U.S. stock market higher in early Tuesday. Major indexes in Europe and Asia climbed ahead of a string of U.S. and Chinese economic reports later this week. KEEPING SCORE: As of 10:20 a.m. Eastern time, the Standard & Poor's 500 index was up five points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,984. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 68 points, 0.4 percent, to 17,050, while the Nasdaq composite picked up 21 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,466.
