House, Senate budgets far apart on education funds

The legislature may be at war with itself over Medicaid expansion, but both the House and Senate agree education needs more money. As with healthcare, there are big differences between the two chambers. The House would provide $23.2 billion in total spending versus the Senate's $22.7 billion. Both would increase funding over last year's budget -- the Senate would add $100 million and the House $600 million.
