A U.S. Senate committee on consumer protection took television health guru Dr. Mehmet Oz to the woodshed Tuesday for promoting weight-loss products that are unproven on his show, CNN reports.  "I don't get why you need to say this stuff when you know it's not true," said committee chair Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo). Oz said he does believe in the products and feels his role is to be a "cheerleader" for the audience, to give them hope. Later, in a prepared statement, he said he would exercise "an abundance of caution in discussing promising research and products in the future."
