All-Sar first baseman Paul Goldschmidt of the Arizona Diamondbacks is going to miss the rest of the season because of a broken left hand, Manager Kirk Gibson said Sunday, two days after Goldschmidt was hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh reliever Ernesto Frieri.
Gibson put Goldschmidt's rehabilitation timetable at eight weeks, and the season ends in late September. No surgery is expected. Goldschmidt hit .300 with 19 home runs and 69 runs batted in this season.
