Ichiro Suzuki achieved a pair of baseball milestones Friday night when he led off the Miami Marlins' game against Milwaukee with a basehit and then stole second base.
The hit, a single to right field on a 1-0 fastball from the Brewers' Zach Davies, was the 2,944th of Suzuki's major league career, moving him into 33rd place all time ahead of Frank Robinson.
The stolen base was his 500th in the majors, ranking 38th all-time. Suzuki had 1,278 hits and 199 stolen bases playing in the Japanese Baseball League from 1992-2000.
