Disneyland to give away diamonds, in-park suite stay for 60th year

Share

It’s Disneyland’s 60th anniversary this year, and diamonds are the traditional gift. Some lucky Disneyland fans could win some bling as part of a sweepstakes announced Tuesday.

Disneyland Diamond Days will begin at 6 a.m. May 22 when the park holds its 24-hour party. That’s also when the resort kicks off its sweepstakes.

The theme park has come up with novel prizes to be awarded daily and weekly, starting with 1- and 2-carat diamonds created for Disney.

Some diamond prizes come with a stay in a suite inside the theme park. The Disneyland Dream Suite is above Pirates of the Caribbean and was created as an apartment for Walt Disney.

Other prizes include a crystal Cinderella slipper with a diamond and topaz pendant, a private party in Fantasyland or a tailgate party in Cars Land, or an individual tour of Disneyland or California Adventure.

The resort’s parks have special anniversary festivities planned too: a new “World of Color -- Celebrate!” presentation in California Adventure, and an after-dark neon “Paint the Night” parade in Disneyland, topped with a fresh take on the nightly fireworks show.

If you want to know what you could win, sweepstakes prizes will be announced the week before they’re awarded at Disneyland.com/DiamondDays. Anyone in the U.S., Mexico and most of Canada can enter to win. (You don’t have to purchase a theme park ticket.)
