Gear: Inexpensive and ingenious cellphone or tablet stands

These stands can serve other functions, but they work well for a cell phone or a tablet.

Here’s a simple, inexpensive alternative to high-end cellphone stands: Gibson Holders are heavy-duty, vinyl-coated, steel-wire adjustable folding display stands.

Gibson, known mainly for its plate holders and display easels, offers two sturdy steel wire stands that will hold cellphones, tablets or e-readers.

The 3C Small 3-Wire Display Stand is 4 3/4 inches high, 2 inches wide, and about 1 inch deep when folded down.

The 2AX Wire Display Stand (for full-size tablets, etc.) is 4 1/2 by 5 5/8 by 1 1/2 inches deep.

Both stands accommodate vertical or horizontal display at any angle you choose.

Info: 3C Small 3-Wire Display Stand costs $3.49; the 2AX Wire Display Stand costs $3.49.
