Enterprise Rent-a-Car is now renting Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Las Vegas, providing yet another way to go hog wild in Sin City.

The company that promises “we’ll pick you up” will, indeed, pick you up in Las Vegas and take you to its location that stocks the Harleys. (It’s at 4517 W. Flamingo Road, just off the Strip and about half a mile from Palms Casino Resort).

Rates begin about $150 a day (no mileage is charged) for a selection of bikes that includes Road Kings, Ultra Classics and Softtail Classics, among other touring bikes. Sport bikes are not part of the mix.

That makes sense given what Enterprise thinks riders will want to do: cruise on out to Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Mt. Charleston and other popular spots.

Vegas has the largest per capita motorcycle ownership in the United States, said Dave Nestor, senior vice president of West Coast operations for Enterprise, so having the bikes there makes sense. Plus the demographics of the Harley owner and rider and the Enterprise renter are similar, he said: They’re 35 to 40, college educated, have a “reasonable” household income and “they like to take on adventures.”

Enterprise will provide helmets for riders and passengers (they are required in Nevada) and rain gear on request, Nestor said.

Riders, of course, must have a valid motorcycle license and liability coverage. (It’s a good idea to check with your insurance company to verify your coverage, whether you’re renting a car, a motorcycle or any other moving object.)
